1. State Police to Run "Sobriety Checkpoint" in Norfolk County This Weekend

The following is from the Massachusetts State Police:

Colonel Timothy P. Alben, Superintendent of the Massachusetts State Police, announced that a ?Sobriety Checkpoint? will be implemented by the Massachusetts State Police on a public way in Norfolk County Friday, August 3, into Saturday, August 4.?

The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public?s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways.?

It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety.

3. Stoughton All Comers ? Summer Track Meets

Join Michael Baugh at the Stoughton High track on Thursday nights this summer for fun, exercise, and competition. An experienced track coach, Baugh will instruct children in a different track and field skill each week and conduct some races. This is a no pressure learning experience that will introduce your child to the sport of track and field.

The fee is $2 per race or three races for $5.

4. Thursday is Food Pantry Day in Stoughton

Stoughton resident?Peg Carbone?continues her effort to?curb hunger?in Stoughton, personally picking up donations for the food pantries every Thursday.

Here's a note from Peg: "I pick up non perishable food and also household items?every Thursday, anywhere in Stoughton and deliver them to the food pantry. Please tell your friends and neighbors. One item, one bag or several, and I will pick them up every Thursday."
