Barney Frank Jokes At Harvard: It's 'Entirely Legal To Call Me A Fag ...

video

Harvard followed up it?s undergraduate Class Day appearance by Andy Samberg yesterday with a speech from Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank, who gave the graduating class advice for the future and good wishes. He also took some time for an aside on how he supports free speech? whether it be the time he compared a woman at a town hall meeting ?unfavorably to a dining table? to someone calling him a ?fag,? which he was fine with but didn?t recommend it ?if you?re in the banking business? while he was head of the House Financial Service Committee.

?I?m not for limiting what anybody says about anybody,? Rep. Frank asserted, including ?the woman who I compared unfavorably to a dining room table? who compared Obamacare to Nazi policies. ?I was glad that she had the right to say something so contemptible,? he noted. To prove that, he told the story of his support for amending hate crime legislation to include sexual orientation and identity into the law. Many legislators told him ?that would endanger their ability to say anti-gay things,? but he asserted ?we are not trying to criminalize speech.? ?Let me be very clear? if this bill passes tomorrow, it will still be entirely legal to call me a fag? I just wouldn?t recommend it if you?re in the banking business.?
